Varanasi is a city that fascinates me. I started my trip to India from Varanasi. Banaras is situated on the banks of the river Ganges. Banaras is also called the city of Shiva because it is believed that Lord Shiva built this city. Varanasi, which is called the city of Kashi. Is the oldest and most sacred (holy) city in India. Which has the status of a World Heritage Site. In this “How famous is Varanasi” blog, we will try to know every aspect of Varanasi and I will try to inform you of everything according to my traveling experience.

Banaras is not just a city of temples but it tells the story of civilization. A story that is probably older than the pages of history. This city has religious significance as well as the history of its rightful family is also very beautiful. After establishing British rule over Kashi. Many royal families settled around Kashi. One of which was the Peshwa family of Maharashtra. Rani of Jhansi Rani Laxmibai was born in this Sahi family. Which was named after the Ghat manikarnika of Banaras.

Beautiful Museum of India and Banaras, Bharat Kala Bhavan Museum, this University Museum is located in Banaras. It is one of the proper tourist attractions of Varanasi. It was established on 1 January 1920, and it has a large collection of archaeological materials, paintings, decorative arts, and Indian philosophical, literary, and archival material, with a total collection of 104,376 different arts. The art form was founded by Krishnadas and Pandit Madan. Mohan Malaviya and, Director of Bharat Kala Bhavan, Prof. Ajay Kumar Singh Mahatma Gandhi visited Bharti Kala Bhavan thrice and said that “the collection is good”, Mr. Ravindra Nath was the first president of Tagore Museum. Sri Durga Temple: – Durga Temple is one of the most famous temples in the holy city of Varanasi. The Durga temple was built in the 18th century by Queen Bhavani of Najarat. It is believed that the existing symbol of God was not created by man, but was revealed on its own. This temple was built in the style of North Indian Nagara architecture. The temple is painted red with ocher to match the color of the central emblem of Durga. It is also known as “Monkey Temple”. There is also a kund next to the temple which is known as Durga Kund.

There is a Tulsi Manas temple at a distance of 250 meters in its south direction. Surekha built the temple in 1949 at the same place where Tulsi Das composed Ramcharitmanas. The temple was constructed in white marble and landscaped around the temple. Ramcharitmanas inscriptions are engraved on the marble walls around the temple. There are idols of Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, and many other types of God inside the temple too. It was inaugurated by Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. This temple is very big. If we talk about the Buddhist God, Sarnath Temple has situated 10 km from Banaras. Where Buddha gave his first sermon, after the address of Ashoka, the chief of Bodh Gaya, who was an ardent follower of Buddhism, he built a stupa in the house of Sarnath in 234 BC. The temple has a Buddha statue all around, which is golden in color and beautiful paintings have been done on the inside walls of the temple which makes this temple more beautiful.

Next to the temple is the Bodhi tree and below it is the statue of Buddha God and his first five disciples. There is a zoo behind the Sarnath temple from where the sweet sound of peacocks and many kinds of birds come and you can also go for a walk in this zoo. Apart from this, there is a popular Dhamekh Stupa near Sarnath Temple, Sarnath attracts many tourists every year.

Tibetan Temple: – Tibetan Buddhist monastery is a beautiful and bright place with a peaceful tradition. It was built in 1955. And made primarily by Lathan Chhotrul Milan Chenmo Trust. The door of the monastery is painted bright red and the walls are surrounded by beautiful frescoes of beautiful deities, making it possible for visitors to stay overnight in the Tibetan monastery. By making a small donation, you can spend the night here.

If Banaras came and did not go to Shri Kashi Vishwanath temple, there is no point in coming to Benares. The popular Kashi Vishwanath temple in India is a sacred attraction about four kilometers from the Varanasi railway junction near the Manikarnika Ghat.
