Exploring Meghalaya
I want to visit every corner of India. Recently, when I was coming from the Himalayas, I made up my mind to visit the monsoon places. But I thought, in which part of India it would always rain season? Then my friend told me about Meghalaya. That’s when I thought I should explore Meghalaya. In this blog “Exploring Meghalaya” I will try to tell you about that special place. The story of “Exploring Meghalaya” is one of the best stories I have come across. It will change the way you think about Meghalaya. let’s go to Meghalaya.
Cherrapunji
Rain is common in Cherrapunji in any season. As soon as we came out of Shillong, the whole atmosphere changed, a light cool breeze and small raindrops flowing with them fell on our faces. Looking out the window, I was feeling lost in myself and at that time if your old friends are with you then this moment becomes even better. Our train dropped us about 45 minutes before our destination. Because the car will not be able to go ahead of it and we have been tracking for about 45 minutes and it is about 5:35 in the evening, but it is very dark here, it seems like it is about 9 or 10 in the night. Have passed Whether it is day or night, you should also feel that place. We were going in the dark yet we were imagining what would happen around us. It is a lot of fun to imagine this.
Just imaging the view of this place with the sounds of forests and waterfalls, what would this place be like or it’s like a dream that you are going alone in a deep dark forest and there could be anything around you, it could be a ghost, it could be an animal. Is it or can be very beautiful scenes, the journey passes very quickly in imagining all these.
The next morning, when I woke up from that dark dream, there was no ghost or any animal in reality. The best views here are more beautiful than what I had imagined while trekking at night. The beauty of Meghalaya begins where our imagination ends.
Living Root Bridge
The first step on the Living Root Bridge meant suddenly pouring water on a dream that had been sleeping for years in a corner of the brain and it was like waking up in a flash. The dream was the reality today, we were seeing the wonderful work of nature. This root bridge is very beautiful and interesting. Or there was no one except us, we had a lot of fun here. After seeing the Living Root Bridge, we are going to see Rainbow Waterfall from here, which is about 2 hours away from here.
Meghalaya Rainbow waterfall
There are many waterfalls in Meghalaya or you will hear the sound of waterfall at many places. But this Rainbow waterfall is very different from other waterfalls. To reach here, you have to trek for 2 hours from the living route. While passing through the forest, now we were getting to know the bio-diversity of this place closely. The tropical culture here is also full of different colors. It seemed that we were not going to Meghalaya but from an Amazon forest, on the way we were walking over many small and big man-made or natural bridges. You can come here between 9:00 am to 12:00 am, at this time you can see Rainbow.
For 2 days I was trekking in Meghalaya as I wanted to see offbeat places. That’s why tired we were moving towards Rainbow Waterfall but as soon as his voice started increasing slowly our tiredness disappeared, waterfall was visible from far away but we felt that we might have missed Rainbow but as soon as When we came closer, we saw that Incredible Rainbow, then we did not know in which world we had entered. It was just a relief to have something around. The water of Rainbow Fall was very clear and shining like glass. Before coming here, I had heard a story about a seven colored waterfall on which sun rays fall and seven different colors emerge from it. Then that story seemed false, but after seeing it, now it is difficult to believe in reality.
Wahkhen VillageĀ
I have just reached Wahkhen village. We came to this village to see Bomboo Trek, but before telling about it, you should know a little history here. Here there was a king named Mawryngkhang, who is also known as King of Stone. He fell in love with a girl and at the same time the king of Mawpator Kingdom also fell in love with the same girl. So there was a war between both of them on this matter and Mawryngkhang King was victorious in the war. That’s why bamboo trek is called Mawryngkhang trek. Or there is a big rock called Mawryngkhang King. The small stone behind it is a lady and the one in front is the big rock on a mountain, which is the Mawpator king who was defeated in the war.
Mawryngkhang Trek
There are many bamboo bridges here and I was finding it difficult to walk on them. Walking on this is full of more challenges in the rainy season. Making and maintaining bridges here is even more challenging. This is a wonder in itself. We were crossing each and every bridge with ease and then came the scariest part of the track. Walking on the bamboo bridges on the edges of this mountain. It was very scary to look down from here. We were stopping again and again to collect our courage and slowly moving forward. Slowly we were moving toward The King of Stone. We were tired after walking a lot. And at one place we were sitting peacefully, when a familiar voice comes from the heart, at that time there is no one around us, but that voice is there and it always thought the opposite of us and whenever we are defeated by any work. When we think to quit then she screams and says you can do this, today I heard such a voice again in my heart. That’s why standing on The King of Stone can see this great kingdom emperor of Mawryngkhang. After Bamboo Trek, our interest increased to see more beautiful places in Meghalaya, we were eager to see this adventurous unique, and Amazing scene.
Kaziranga National Park
I had read about Kaziranga in childhood books. Everyone must have heard about One Horn Rihno sometime or the other. This time we were going to see Rhino. Though Kaziranga comes from the state of Assam, this was our last high point in this trip to Meghalaya. This feeling of mild cold and morning fog was very beautiful in this weather, and the tea plantations in one direction of the road and the vast Kaziranga forest spread in the lap of the Brahmaputra river in the other direction. Everything was like a picture drawn in childhood. We cannot complete our journey alone, to complete it we must enter at least a little into the lives of every person and every creature that comes our way. Similarly, we started roaming here in Kaziranga National Park with the help of an elephant ride, whether this elephant remembers us or not, but we can never forget it.
After all, this elephant had shown us the first rhinoceros of life. This rhinoceros of Kaziranga was printed not only in the camera but also in the eyes.
The Eastern Zone of Kaziranga
The next day I went to the residence here. They served us great food and rice beer, it was very tasty. But one thing was running in my mind, both of us were talking very nicely as if this is my own house and I have come here after a long time. Till now I was confused that what is all this, these are people living in different cultures and traditions, yet how do we connect, where do we get so much affinity from? With this thought, I went for a safari in the Eastern Zone of Kaziranga. Here on one side of the road there are tall trees and on the other side there are open grasslands as far as the eye can see.
The eastern region is full of animals and birds. There are a good number of rhinos, wild elephants and buffaloes here. But there is a beast hidden here. I was looking for the garden from morning till evening, now it is evening. This is our last evening at Kaziranga. I saw the most famous rhinoceros here and my wish came true. But I’ll come here again looking for something similar.
Now I was ready to say goodbye to Kaziranga. Yes, but thinking about what was going on on the other side of my mind gave me goosebumps. Those magnificent views of Meghalaya were coming in front of the eyes.
