Why should we visit Kedarnath in 2023? Most popular and remote pilgrimage center of India. Where people come from all over the world to just have a glimpse of Kedarnath Temple after completing one of the most difficult journeys. There is a calmness and purity in the air itself which is felt by reaching here. And reaching here is a story in itself, the motorable road ends before 21 kms, after that the hilly track starts. In which some people walk, some sit on horses and some come on Palanquins. And the fastest way to reach the top is by helicopter. Due to this being the only way, all the necessary goods are carried by horses and pithoos up to Kedarnath. And these pithoos deliver goods up to 100 kg to Kedarnath at one go. And after the non stop track of the entire team comes Kedarnath. Kedarnath is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Indian state of Uttarakhand in the Himalayas. It is one of the four sacred shrines in Hinduism, known as the Panch Kedar. The temple is situated at an altitude of 3,583 meters (11,755 ft) and is considered to be one of the most challenging treks in the Indian Himalayas.

Kedarnath is considered to be a highly spiritual and religious destination for Hindus and is visited by thousands of devotees every year during the Char Dham Yatra, a pilgrimage that covers four sacred temples in the Indian Himalayas. The temple is open for 6 months in a year, between April to November (depending on the weather conditions)

Behind the temple there is nothing except the peaks of the high Himalayas. And this view is what makes this temple so special. Kedarnath city was completely destroyed in the 2013 flood. And only the temple was saved. And in that flood, the temple was covered only by a very big rock which is standing behind the temple, it came down from the mountains through the flood water and stopped behind just 10 meter before the temple. And because of this big stone, the flow of water was divided into two parts and the temple was saved. Now this miraculous stone is called Bhim Shila. This too is worshipped.

There is a peak in the south of Kedarnath on which the Bhairav temple is built. And this is the highest point of Kedarnath. And the most amazing view of Kedarnath peak is visible from here.
If possible, you must go to Kedarnath. Either you will feel closer to God here or closer to yourself.

Visiting Kedarnath is not only a spiritual journey but also an opportunity to explore the natural beauty of the Himalayas and to experience the unique culture and traditions of the region. It’s important to note that the trek is not recommended for people with health issues or for people who are not physically fit.

I wish everyone to explore this beautiful world and learn the things to make our world a better place to live. With this, if you enjoyed reading this blog, do comment and share it with your friends and family and keep following Nomad Rahgir..
